Evan Chaffee comes from a Long Beach family — a grandfather who came home from the Second World War and became a postmaster there — and his debut novel, Six Dead, None the Wiser, was twenty years in the digging. This work honors the land, confronts the shadow, and builds something that lasts — one brushstroke, one sentence, one ride at a time.
